Didn't notice House was in the next column, just it was in brackets. Anyway, some of the baptisms say 'Bird Stuffer', so a Taxidermist. |

I got Harold James Bushell's birth cert, born 18th Aug 1923, South Hackney, his mother Beatrice Elizabeth Bushell, no father named. Trying to find Beatrice now...Could someone please look her up on census 1901 1911 to find family? found a match born in 1891, Hackney with parents Edward Bushell and wife Sarah Ada Huxell? could someone please confirm who she was living with in 1901 and 1911? |

Thanks JoonieCloonie for your reply, I agree with you about living person's having to apply themselves, I hadn't given it much thought up until now but I wouldn't want any Tom,Dick or Harry having a copy of my birth cert. So I will leave it to my friend if she wants to apply for her birth cert, unlikely though...have searched so many friends and family over the years and still waiting to find one who is as interested in their own family as I am, especially when in comes to spending money!!! |

ah, I hadn't paid attention to the part where you said 1968-70 so that must have been it - and somebody at the GRO pulled up the wrong form letter? :-) |

Thanks for the info, I have never asked for a cert for a living person before. That makes sense as to why I have not received the birth cert... but why not say that GRO??? I could quite easily provide any info or indeed get my friend to apply for her own birth cert... |

if the person was born in the last 50 years no certificate will be issued without detailed identifying info - could that be it even though they gave a different reason? |

Thanks for all your replies, as I thought, it is a hard task to find his parents. I will get the birth cert to see any info on the mother. |

It's unlikely you will find out who his dad was, unless his baptism gives the info. Some priests asked the mum who was the father and recorded it on the baptism record |
