My dad's birthday certificate does mentioned address as 89 Church St, Runcorn, Cheshire
My dad appears to be registered twice
Chin L Dock & Chin L Wilson, his mother is Elizabeth Gallon & his father Chin Dock
But had no idea his mother changed name to Elizabeth Wilson (Presume she married a Wilson?)
I assume my Grandmother looked after my father until he was 3 years old because his father took him to China
My father never saw his mother again and never spoke much about her
That's the reason i am trying to research our roots
Then i came across a Elizabeth gallon as a Passenger List bound for Cape, South Africa
Again, she may not be the same person but it seems a coincidence that she just disappeared from scene

Has anyone checked electoral lists for the 1921 birth address in case another name can be linked to Elizabeth.?

However, tt's also possible that E Gallon is this woman in 1925

Returned to South Africa at some point: -

Edith and Michael, plus a 15-year-old named Ian Hughes Whatley, returned to the UK in 1934, heading for Netherleigh, Minehead.

Michael later joined the Royal Navy.

Her last UK address is given as Sherbourne Hotel, WC - probably not helpful .

She has no occupation .

I am looking for information on Elizabeth Gallon who was a listed as a Passenger on board ship leaving UK for Cape, South Africa as below
Not sure if she is my grandmother, but i would see if it leads anywhere

Martin, will have another look through. But one thing you can bear in mind is that the 1921 census will be released on Findmypast in 3 years time, that might bring the breakthrough on Elizabeth.

I am still unable to find more information about my grandmother Elisabeth Wilson (Gallon), can anyone help?

How can i find out more information about my grand mother when all i have is her name on my dad's birth certificate but there is no mention when she was born, where she came from, what her background family was etc. Her address at that time (1921) when my father was born was 89 Church St, Runcorn, Cheshire. I have exhausted the search but seem to come up against a brick wall.
I really appreciate all the information i have gained so far from those who have helped me but the last piece of the puzzle is still missing

On my dad's birth certificate,his mother's name was Elizabeth Wilson (formerly Gallon) in 1921 so she either was married or had her name changed, i really dont know,i can only reason that my grandmother was born somewhere between 1986 & 1904 assuming that she was 35 when she had my dad in 1921, which seems unlikely (i reckon she must have been in her 20's when she had my dad
Maybe i am wrong but i am clutching at straws here

My mother Mable Lee (formerly Wong) is still alive living in Los Angeles, California, she is 87 and her memory is not what it use to be and digging up the past might cause her undue stress
Considering she has had 10 children and worked 18 hours a day in the laundry business i think she has done well
I have no idea about my grandparents on my mom's side, she has 2 sisters still living in LA, one died this year (auntie Annie)
when i go over to see her early next year i willl ask her about names you mentioned, certainly the names mentioned above dont ring any bells

Hopefully Martin might recognise a name or three! Eleanor' second name might well fit, with the daughter being called Mabel

Martin, if Mabel Wong has passed away, you can upload her death certificate to FMP to ask for the (1939 register) record to be opened. You can see on the info I posted that there are records closed and one of them might be Mabel

(grief Gins, Moe Loo Foo, all bordering on nightmare lol, concentration needed or what!)
