Mary, I don't know but I might make the guess that as the 1899 marriage is bigamous John gave his father as deceased ( basing that on my bigamous grandfather on other side doing similar) ? |

that would possibly make that John a son of the Charles Wakeford whose daughter Mary married in Turnham Green, so from Sussex originally and so not mine. |

Thank you Austin, that certainly looks very interesting :-) That was my next port of call, the criminal possibilities. It might explain a lot I think, also some of the changes of occupation on marriages and census. |
