That is very interesting to know. I did wonder if it was possible to be baptised twice.

On the original of the 1850 baptism, there is a note in the margin- it appears on some of the other baptisms on the same page. Not sure what it says (or means): 'Rec'd ? Church'.

EDIT:
Just having googled it looks to be a kind of confirmation service that renewed the vows that were made on his baptism as an infant.

He may have been ill. It was not unusual for people to be baptised later in life

Thanks for that AustinQ that has helped although I am still confused as to why there would be 2 baptisms for Edmund as they state that parents are Stephen and Mary on both entries.

Eliza can be identified with mother's maiden name through the GRO.

Birth for Eliza:

SUTCLIFF, ELIZA mother's maiden name: BACON
GRO Reference: 1841 S Quarter in BELPER UNION Volume 19 Page 386

Am trying to find dates of birth for the Sutcliffe family in Alfreton Derbyshire. Mary Ann abt 1825, Joseph Edmund abt 1827, Jane abt 1830, Edmund abt 1833, Eliza abt 1843 and Edward abt 1835 all children of Stephen Sutcliffe and Mary Bacon. I have found 2 baptisms for Edmund 14 July 1833 and 2 June 1850. I think Edmund and Edward may be one and the same person (my gut feeling) Any help appreciated.
