I have found a picture of a grave online of my 4x great grandparents.

Willam Houghton and his wife Fanny.

The grave shows they had a granddaughter called Ellen who I have not been able to place into the family and would appreciate some assistance in placing her - age 13 or 15 in 1866.

But I do question whether a girl of that age would be married and also she passed away under her Maiden name.

Mark I don't think you are reading it right? Ellen would be the illegitimate daughter of Nancy/Ann.

Choccy has posted the 1861 census, the other grandchild Frances is also illegitimate

Although there was an Ann Aughton born in Southport in 1838 (parents Robert and Jane) , it's also possible that Methuselah's wife was Ann Houghton, sister of Mary whom at first I thought might be Frances's mother.
