Thanks For all your help would anyone be able to find Samuel Atherton's Birth I'm having trouble with this and also finding Samuel Atherton on the Census to see his family. We are trying to find out if we are related to any Atherton's who fought in the ww1. Also how do I access Cyril Atherton Navy records as we never even knew our grandfather was in the Navy very interesting. Thanks again.

Alan, as there are a number of Samuel Athertons born around the same time ( 2 in same qtr 1892) you will probably need to buy the marriage cert for Samuel 1916, hopefully his father will be named on it and then you can find family on the 1911 census.

If the birth date for him is accurate on the 1939 register then he is likely to be one of these 2
