Would anyone know how to find out what the above address was in 1888. It's the address shown for both my great grandparents when they married. Someone on Ancestry also gave that address for his relative, who died in the Liverpool Infirmary, and the address was given as 30 Edmund Street.
I'm wondering if maybe this was not a private residence. Any ideas?

Looking at the 1891 census it seems to be a private house but takes in lodgers

One of the party may have lived there but often both bride and groom give the same address as their residence to save putting banns up in two different parishes

The old myth was if you put your suitcase of clothes at a residence for six weeks prior to the marriage you can claim to live there

Liverpool too would have lots of lodging rooms for dock workers and ships personnel on leave

I didn’t want to get into names, etc., as I was only wondering about the address after seeing the other entry on Ancestry and whether it was something other than a private residence. The fact that my great grandmother was born in St. Helens too made me wonder.

The John Price Roberts and Louisa Dennett mentioned by Chris is the correct one.

Looks like Shirley May have hit the nail on the head.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks mgnv ... it does look like it might be some sort of rooming house doesn’t it.
