Robert Alfred Haines was born 12/5/1930 in Calne, Wiltshire.
His parents were Joseph Haines (b1890) and Beatrice Josephine Gossens (b1899)

I am unable to find any record of Beatrice's birth or her marriage to Joseph. It is thought that Joseph and Beatrice may have met (and married?) at the end of WW1 in the Netherlands or Belgium. However, having said that the birth of their only(?) child Robert was a long time coming.
