Find Ancestors

I have info William Cecil Nichols married Mary Jane Lumsden in 1928 in Lodden area of Norfolk The scribbled notes seem to read Toftmonks House (possibly Topcroft). They had a daughter Joan-who I have found.Mary Jane was always known as Millie.
I can't find a marriage record for them,nor can I find any of them on the 1939 register?
I'd like to order the marriage certificate if I could find a record.
Any info much appreciated.

Definitely married.Daughter Joan was born in Lodden in 1929 with surname Nicholls.I have that record.All her siblings were all born in that area after her. William was born on the 20/12/1894 in Topcroft,Norfolk.Unsure of Mary Jane Lumsden.

Didn’t have to be married to register the child under the father’s surname

I have no proof on that one I'm afraid Erika.On daughter Joans birth cerificate her name is given as Millie (which she was always known by) Joans sister insists her 'proper' name was Mary Jane.Her name was formerly Lumsden.Maybe she was married to a Lumsden previously ? She died c1976-77 in Durham as Nicholls.

As they ended up in Durham - this looks like a possibility, but the only way to prove it is to get a copy of Mary's birth cert - for the actual DOB
