There's no need to reply to everyone individually Joan. Just add anything you want to say to this thread and we'll all see it.

Thank you everyone for replying to my post . I am very new to all this and still trying to find my way round the site. I am going to try and print off your replies to study as it's difficult When I'm just reading them on my mobile. I will then try and reply to you individually.

Thanks again

Joan

William had the middle initial F at birth - quite likely Frederick.

So this is them in 1939. J has been added in green ink, imo it looks more like a T, if anything.

Have you looked on here in ‘search all member trees’

Have you looked anywhere? To save duplication.............

Presumably, the boy wasn’t actually adopted, so his name will not have changed, unless it was changed unofficially

Do you know the surname of the couple who brought him up?

HELLO EVERYONE.

I'm looking for the son of Percy and his wife Marjorie Edith Williams. They had a little boy in 1940 but gave him to a relative when they split up. They then reconciled and wanted their child back but the 'adoptive' parents wouldn't return him although agreed they could keep in touch with him in the role of aunty and uncle.

The little boy was called William.

Percy was my late grandma's younger brother.

Many thanks for your help. Joan :-)
