Find Ancestors

Hi,Researchers.Looking to trace Henry .who is my Ex Wifes G'Grandfather.He is in 1901 Census with wife Ann E.and 1 child. Mary.(My ex wife's G'Mother.) Have been unable to find their marriage and his wifes Maiden name..The 1901 Census records a Brother in Law called Chapman with the family yet all Henry's children appear to have a MMS as Mclaughlin .Can anyone explain it all or am I missing something?

In 1901 Census he is living in Hartlepool and he is the son of Thomas Shears
b.c.1854,Whitby. Henry's birth is 1876,Whitby.
