Thank you so very much Erika, you have helped me in the past and have come up trumps again.

This now gives me a more rounded picture. I had some romantic/tragic story in my mind, and it seems it might be the case. I imagined they had married just before he went off to war, but to only be wed for two years is a tragedy.

However, she seems to have found happiness, and went on to have several children.

Thank you again for you time and trouble.

Best Wishes

For WW1 deaths, look at the CWGC site

https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/

What was the woman's marital status when she married Worthy?

Having said that........if she married as Fisher and gave her father's name as Carling........................

I wonder if some kind person can do a look up and make sense of person please. I think I have my facts correct.

Susannah Carling 1893 born Southwick, Sunderland, dau. of Patrick Carling and Mary Devine.

I have her being married to a Robert Fisher 1892 in Sunderland 1914. However there is another entry for her being married to a John Worthy in 1919. In both cases her father is named as Patrick Carling. In the second marriage she is named as Susannah Fisher.

I cannot find a death date for Robert Fisher, and I wonder if he was killed overseas in WW1. Would he be mentioned in British records?

I see she and John had a dau. Elizabeth/Bessy in 1920.but cannot find any children from her marriage to Robert.

If anyone can shed any light on Robert Fisher I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.
