Find Ancestors

Hi all,this is just a shot in the dark,but you maybe able too help or advise me.
I have a 6 x Grandmother Sarah Cromwell born 1686 Malmesbury Wiltshire and date of death 1727 Frampton Cotterell Glos. If my research is correct she married William Dando 1686/1726.My problem is I keep getting her mother as Elizabeth Russell and Im not sure that is correct.

Where are you finding the name Elizabeth Russell?

Sarah is on 368 trees on Ancestry!

As far as I can see , looking at a few , none of them provide any proof of her birth or parents.

Most will just have copied blindly from each other without checking anything.

I think you are correct that is why I questioned the validity of the entry.

Her husband Henry was son of the infamous Oliver Cromwell.

But there's no proof that Sarah was her daughter.

NOTE: Remains of the Cromwell family were reportedly removed from the vault in 1880; reporting source did not specify where they were taken or reburied or for what purpose they were removed.

If Elizabeth was Sarah's mother, she would have been 55 when Sarah was born in Gloucestershire - the year before Elizabeth died in Devon.

Doesn't seem likely to me.

Did the couple really marry when each of them was only 10 years of age?

Which of their offspring is your proven line? When and where was that person born?

The marriage is transcribed on FMP……….that site links her name to a baptism on 23rd April 1671 at Erlestoke. Father’s name Edwa

According to at least one Ancestry tree (for whatever that's worth), Martha was a
gr-gr-daughter of Sarah and William.

Her father is said to be Stephen Dando 1745-1830, whose father was William Dando 1717-70, whose parents were Sarah and William.

Baptism records for William 1717 and Stephen, seem to bear that out - though as said on the other thread, there were lots of Dando/Dandys in Frampton Cotterell, for many generations.

Hi This is another shot in the dark,on the Westwood Wiltshire Church transcript there are three other Cromwell Marriages.
Bartholomew Cromwell - Amy Wilkins married 23/3/1671.
Oliver Cromwell-Ame May married 4/2/1681.
Richard Cromwell- xxx Holcom married 4/4/1696.
I wonder if they could be part of Sarah Cromwell family.
