You may need resort to the old fashioned way of drawing your tree out - the.back of a roll of wallpaper and thick felt tips.

Sometimes I think it is much more difficult to do someone else’s tree as you don’t get the little clues that nudge memories..

Hi everybody, thank you so much for all of your time and replies and information given. My tree connection is to my sister in law, her grandmother doesn’t know anything about her grandparents, and as I’ve researched my whole family tree they asked me to give them a hand with that. I am sorry about the delay in reply on my end, I have recently been registered blind so have to wait for my daughter to have some time to log in and get back to you. We will have another look into this on Friday and purchase the birth certificate to confirm parents names of Elma. Again thank you so much for everything posted on this thread, really appreciate it.

I thought you meant you were looking for Elma's connection to you.

However, on re-reading your opening post, I think you probably mean that you are looking for anyone alive now, as yet unknown to you, who also has a connection to Elma.

Obviously - in relation the woman who is the subject of this thread

‘DNA on,y works for blood relatives’ - obviously. The unknown father is a blood relative as are his siblings their children, his own parents and their siblings the their children and do on.

These people would all be of the ‘fathers line’.

Not quite accurate nowadays to say you can’t trace a father’s line.

If the OP really wanted to do that the he could take a dna test. He might not find the father but he should be able to see ‘the line’ as there would, with any luck, be a group of people he couldn’t place in a known tree.
