Hi folks Can anyone help with this. I have read a WILL of Alfred Collett Bartley 1786 Bristol, England died 1845 Mitcham, Surrey, England. Who married Charlotte O'Hara Booth on the 18 Oct 1831 Old Basing, Hampshire, England In that WILL it mentions 2 names. Charlotte Eliza Bartley Bapt; 13 Oct 1835 Mitcham, St Peter & St Paul, Surrey. It says Charlotte Eliza Mawby (Bartley) It also mentions General Mawby, who is Sebright John Mawby who is my 5th great grandfather. I have no record of a BARTLEY married to MAWBY. The 1851 Census mentions Charlotte, with mother and sister, Mitcham, Surrey which, I have got Charlotte's 2 sisters.
Thanks in advance Craig

Having looked at the image of Charlotte's baptism record, I don't see any suggestion, or reason to suppose, that a Bartley married a Mawby.
Mawby is just one of Charlotte's middle names. Bartley is NOT in brackets.
Charlotte Eliza Mawby Bartley in the Surrey, England, Church of England Baptisms, 1813-1921 Name Charlotte Eliza Mawby Bartley Baptism Date 13 Oct 1835 Baptism Place St Peter & St Paul, The City of Mitcham, Surrey, England Parish as it Appears Mitcham Father Alfred Collett Bartley Mother Charlotte O Hara Bartley

Okay got that. Its just that it mentions Charlotte Eliza Mawby, and further down in the will it mentions her again and yes Mawby as a middle name. It just made me think that she married a MAWBY because it also mentioned the GENERAL Mawby. Why would he be mentioned if there was not a connection the GENERAL died in 1801, Alfred in 1845. There has to be a connection in some way or another. Maybe I'm wrong but I will keep looking.

Re Colonel Mawby - yes, sorry, I wasn't thinking about him!
He may just have been a close family friend . I see he was to receive two guineas . As far as I can see, that's the only mention of him in the Will.
On Ancestry and FreeBMD, I'm not seeing any record for a Sebright JOHN Mawby.
You say he died in 1801. Are you sure? Perhaps you mean the man who died in 1850?
Sebright Mawby in the England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index, 1837-1915 Name Sebright Mawby Registration Quarter Oct-Nov-Dec Death Registration Place Marylebone, London, United Kingdom Death Date Dec 1850 Inferred Death Place London, United Kingdom Volume 1 Page 196
He was a Lieutenant General when he died, per his Will. He lived at 76 Baker Street, Portman Square, with his wife Sarah Maria (nee Deze). He had a sister Charlotte.
[Can't do more at the moment, as my village is about to have a planned power cut until 4pm !]
