Hi - looking for more information on my grandfather William Brown's family - he was born on the 21st March 1911 - in Patrick, Glasgow - his father was also William Brown and he was a hardware shopkeeper. His mother was Catherine Brown (nee McLeod) - think she died when he was young as he was brought up by 2 aunts in Strathaven. He enlisted in the Black Watch on 21st November 1930, was in India 11.10.32 - 12.12.36, and in Sudan 13.12.36 - 10.11.37. He was a Private. He then left, and was recalled 01.11.39 and was then discharged 24.01.54 - he was then in Royal Army Medical Corps. He was then a Post Office security guard. He lived in West Calder until his death on 08/12/80. He married my Grandmother - Doris May Brown (nee Osbourne) on 29/04/38 at Granton Parish Church. My grandmother DOB was 16/07/18. They had 4 children - Betty (Elizabeth), Cathy (Catherine), Carol (Caroline - my mother) and Andrew. Any more information would be very grateful. |
