I am a Govey and my ancestors all come from the East End, Hackney, Shoreditch areas. Lots of Edwards and Alfreds. The family mostly seem to be involved with shoemaking (inc. leather cutting, cordwaining, (cord making), etc.) Charles Granger Govey (c. 1817) m Elizabeth Lewis (c.1820) Edward Govey (1845-1900) m Sarah Hancock (think she may have been deaf) Alfred Govey (1875-1961) m Hannah Mansfield, brother: Edward Govey (1872), Alfred Henry (1903-1978), Edward James (1907), Thomas William (1911-2004), Robert (1915), Doris (1918). My family is from the Alfred (1875) Alfred Henry (1903) spur. I'm not a full member, so can't make contact, but would like to help others make a connection. :)
