Hi. I am trying to trace my Grandfather (Herbert Barker) & Great Grandfather (Benjamin Barker). I have very little information to go on: I believe Herbert was born on 19 August 1893, but I have no idea where, or who his mother was (although he was always talked of as being a Yorkshireman). I am also told that he served in the army in the first world war and 'was gassed in the war', but do not know which regiment he was in. He was an engineer by trade & married twice. His second wife was Marie Gwendoline (known as Gwen), but I have no information regarding his first wife. He & Gwen lived in Torquay, Devon before moving to Buckinghamshire. Herbert died in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire in 1961. One of Herbert's parents married twice and part of his family emigrated to Australia. One of his half brothers or half sisters was believed to have kept in touch with Herbert's second wife Gwen. The only information I have about Benjamin is that he was an engineer and travelled around the country due to his job. Any information that anyone has would be very much appreciated. Many thanks Jackie
