Hi there I'm trying to gather information on my Grandfather named John Leonard (also known as Jack) who sadly passed away in South Africa in 1972. He originates from County Cork Ireland and was born in about 1910. I don't know much more about his life as a youngster, but do know that as a young adult, he lived in Manchester, he practiced as a plumber and coppersmith, also served in the Manchester Fire Department. He married my Grandmother (Veronica Morrison) in about 1940, had 2 sons, Anthony and Robert, then moved to South Africa in 1948 where he and my Grandmother had their 3rd child, a daughter named Patricia. My father (Robert Bernard Leonard) is their 2nd child and was born in Cheetham Hill Manchester in March of 1945. I've moved back to the UK in the last 10 years and have had an uphill struggle trying to find out more about my Grandfather and his family. Does any of this information ring any bells with you? If so and you could help me in my search I'd greatly appreciate you getting in touch with me. Thankyou and good luck to any readers searching family histories of their own. Regards - Kevin Barry Leonard. |
