I am searching for the Clair-Smith family from Devon, we think from around 1870's. Our direct link is Harry Clair-Smith who went to India (possibly a tea-planter or in association with that business). He married an anglo-indian Esther Gertrude Young which we hear was not approved of by his family. They had a daughter Queenie Phyllis in 1894. Her father had died 6 weeks before and her mother died 2 years afterwards. Queenie was brought up by her maternal grandmother and later by her uncle and aunt. She married Clarence Joseph DeSouza, had 3 children and after Clarence died married Donald George. They has 2 children both of whom died in infancy. Queenie died in 1945.
