Hi , I'm trying to find out info.about my grandfathers family, he was born in Campsie sometime between 1875- 1880 we believe it was 1875 but he had told my grandmother 1880, this has turned out to be my great uncles date of birth. I found him on 1881 census at 6 years old. There are no birth records for any of his family apart from the youngest Robert. My grandfather was named James Ross Hardie and his parents married in Newtonards Ireland in 1860 and their names were Samuel Hardie and Ellen Ross Hardie nee Bryden. James Ross Hardie was killed in ww1 10days before my mums 1st birthday in 1917. Mum never new much about this side of the family as her and her siblings were moved over to live in dollar where her other grandparents lived, and as she is 90 now she dearly wishes to know more. Hopefully we'll have some unknown relatives out there who can help |
