I am interested in any Burnett's of North Staffordshire. I have heard albiet secondhand information regarding the origins of the family in this area. According to my source a member of Bonnie Prince Charlie's Jacobite army of 1745 was injured and nursed back to health at Audley. This mans name , I think was John Burnett, and he decided to stay on there and married locally. If there is substance to this story it is quite possible for the North Staffordshire Burnetts to stem from this original ancestor.
