Hello, My name is Jean. I've found my SMITH ancestors back to Charles SMITH, who married Charlotte WAINWRIGHT. 1832 They had five children, Rebecca, Wainwright, Charles, Mary Ann and Martha Ann.----- Rastrick Wainwright married Mary ? Empsall. They had Charles G, William, Simeon, Wainwright, Henry, and Charlotte. I found a 1871 census that said there were two more children, John and SE SMITH. I don't know what happened to them. Simeon, my grandfather, married Mary Ellen Hirst, daughter of John and Mary Hutchinson HIRST of Huddersfield. Simeon and Mary Ellen immigrated to America in 1906 and 1907, respectively. We are planning a Smith Family Reunion of the 12 remaining grandchildren of Simeon and Mary Elllen. I'd love to tell them that the family line still exists in the UK. Thank you very much. |
