HOFMAN OR HOFFMAN - descending from Charles/Karl Hof(f)man, born c.1786 Leipzig, Saxony, believe Protestant, bookbinder and book edge gilder, emig. to London UK c. 1814, m.1816 St Martin i/Fields Sarah Gross, 8 known children 1818-1832. Died Blackfriars, London May 1867
I suspect the name was anglicised by dropping the second 'f' on or about time of entry to UK.

Nick Hofman seeks any connection, or data relating to the German end. Relatives from UK descent are also sought - I'll be delighted with any info.

I also have some other material on 19th C Hof(f)mans who aren't connected, and will be quite happy to share this.
