Sorry to contradict Peter but unfortunatley he is a little confused in what he says, 'In 1600's many moved from England to Scotland'. It was the other way around, many moved from Scotland to England. The rest is essentially correct. Sandra is perfectly correct. There is a little known family legend about how the Mack family became incorporated into the Hume clan, not sure about the accuracy of it. Anyway, the legend says that the Mack family originally held the castle at Berwick but it was stormed and demolished by the Hume family/clan. They built their castle over the ruins and incorporated the surviving Mack family into their clan. As I say I'm not sure about the accuracy of the legend but legends usually have some foundation even an abstract one.
