Hi Bridget
I am also looking for Evan Nicholas a sea captain who was drowned. He was the father of my grandfather, Walter James Nicholas, and he married Sarah Sellars, who seemed to have renamed herself Winifred. My Evan and Sarah had 2 sons (1 being my grandfather) and 2 daughters. The other son, also Evan, emigrated to New Zealand.
I cannot see that your Evan is the same Evan as mine but my Evan was born in Wales and was a sea captain who was drowned at sea, I gather he had several brothers who also went to sea.
How do you know he was drowned in a harbour? Do you have a bit of information about him?

Can anyone give any information re. Evan Nicholas, a sea captain who was drowned in a harbour in South Wales. He was the grandfather of James Edward Nicholas and great grandfather of my father, Laurence James Nicholas. They came from Monmouth. Bridget Dagnall (nee Nicholas)
