I am trying to find out any details with regards to William Blake born 15th Dec 1885. He married Elizabeth Slade 22 June 1911, St Andrew's Church, Bethnal Green. He died 24th Aug 1916 in the Somme. I don't know where he was born but I assume he was from somewhere in London. Any other info is appreciated. Thanks John

Hi John

Was your William Blake a Private in the Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry (Service No. 18112) if so he is buried in the London Cemetery extension at Longeuval Ref; 7.B.6. This is the only WW1 casualty to have died on 24/8/1916 with the name William Blake.

I hope this may be of some assistance.

Regards

Malcolm Blake
