After the first reply I went back to the file which I hadn't looked at for years.
I have found info from his 1st marriage, we were from the 2nd. I have just a note to say that there was a 3rd marriage in Prestwich and can now add a name.
Hope to hear from you as I can put you in touch with the other part of the family too
Regards
Gail

Hi Janet,
My name is Gail boswell nee Porteous
My grandfather was Ernest George the second child of one of Williams marriages although to be fair until today I did not know there was 3. He was married to a Mary Catherine Wilson so whether that makes it the 1st or 2nd I do not know. It would be great to hear from you.
I have a file with all bits and pieces in that I have researched back to 1769 which needs to be put in order but I do not have agreat deal of depth to it all yet, it's just finding the time and here in Jersey we have limited access to records so that makes it difficult. Has your side of the family stayed in England if so what part. Please get back to me
Kind regards
Gail

Hallo there, I am looking for any descendants of William Robert Porteous, born 1850 in Dumfriesshire. His father was George Porteous (1815) and his mother was Mary Ritchie (1821). am the daughter of his younger son from his third marriage to Louisa Preen in Manchester. Best wishes, Janet Porteous
