I am trying to find a relation who we were told emigrated during the gold rush (possibly Yukon). My grandmother used to say she was his favourite neice. Here is the geneology I have: Father John Dawson b. 1799 Houghton le Spring, Durham Mother Ann B. 1803 Fernlees, Durham Children William b. 1833 Esh, Durham Married Mary J. Robson b. 1841 Coxhoe, Durham John Henry b. 1838 Durham married Mary J (myg.grandparents who also had 9 offspring) Martin b. 1844 Sacriston, Durham Thomas b. 1848 Newfield, Durham marr. Emily b. 1851 Ralph b. 1850 Newfield, Durham Ann b. 1839 Durham Catherine b. 1840 Durham Elizabeth B. 1842 Witton Gilbert Durham Jane b. 1836 Durham Father and all sons were coal miners and I think it may have been Ralph who emigrated, although I'm not sure. I would be grateful if anyone could help me find my relations. Someone from Canada, who said they were called Dawson, came during the 2nd world war to Byker looking for my grandmother Catherine, but they had moved and no one knew their address. Joan Jefferson |
