Maud Dodgshun Wilson. I am trying to find why my grandmother had the name Dodgshun. She was born on 29April 1885 and registered by Thomas Wilson and Ann Wilson, nee Spencer(Spenser) of Keating Street,Holbeck,Leeds. Most Dodgshun's were to be found in Morley and some emigrated to Australia aroiund the time of Maud's birth. It has been suggested that Maud was left behind and unofficially adopted by the Wilson's but there is no documentary evidence of this. Could be named after doctor, midwife or clergyman of the area but so far have found no record of any Dodgshuns living beyond Morley. It is a most unusual surname. Any theories, suggestions or evidence welcomed.
