Trying to find Duncan

Alexander Duncan born c 1816 in Pencaitlin/Gladsmiur. His parents were William Duncan and Helen Farmer. He was a shale miner and married Margaret Duncan 1840 in West Calder. They had William 1841 in Pencaitlin, then Agnes 1843, Robert 1845and Marion/Byron 1848 in Cambusnethan. From there Alexander is a mystery as he is not with the family on the 1851 census, but other children are born John 1851 and Jessy 1855. The 1861 census says Margaret is a widow but I can find no record of a death between 1855 - 1861. Anyone come across this family. Many thanks in anticipation Jane |
