Trying to find any information about my grandfather Robert thomas Stanlake born around 1890 in we think Monmouthsire. Married Ellen Mary Ann Howard in London in Nov 4th 1918 They had 5 children although one my Nannies, eldest son was from her previous marriage. (she was widowed )Children were,James (matthews) Robert, (BOB) Ellen (NELL) Catherine (Kitty),Joan, my mum. All were born in London although the family is wide spread now. My mother is the only surviving sibling. We believe my grandfather had 2 half brothers one ?Mark and the other Jack, ?Kirk. Jack is believed to have gone to New Zealand or Australia and never come home. Grandad surved in the army during the first war, worked in the woolwich arsenal during the 2nd war and also worked as aan ARP warden fireman, Also worked as a totter between the wars,and worked for a time as an undertaker, there was a picture of him on the picture post magazine driving one of Londons last horse drawn hearses. Anyone with any mor info particularly about Grandads Birth place and parents please contact me through this site. Many thanks |
