Dear member of GenesReunited My name is John Coldwell and I was born in Denby Dale in 1937. My hobby is the history of the entire world-wide Coldwell family and I am the member of the Genealogical One-Name Society responsible for the Coldwell/Couldwell name. I now have good records for the period 1500 to 1900 with several thousand. Coldwell people in a large family tree (but not yet complete!). I have just entered some details of the early history of the Coldwell family on the GenesReunited web site which might be of interest to you. The family is was concentrated in areas of Yorkshire and Lancashire and has now spread throughout the whole UK and world-wide. Particular areas in Yorkshire include: Holmfirth, Penistone, Silkstone, Cawthorne, Bradfield, Sheffield and the area around Todwick. I would very much appreciate if you would email me with details of your Coldwell family hopefully back to 1901 or earlier if possible. I have found that over the years that the Coldwell surname has changed in some cases to Couldwell or Cowgill (and other similar names) and I would like details of these names as well. Thank you, John K Coldwell
