Trying to find Lightwood

I am looking for William LIGHTWOOD who wasn't always entirely truthful!! On the 1881 census he said he had been born in Madron, Cornwall (he most certainly wasn't), and was 25. He was then at the 35th Brigade Dept, Bodmin. In 1884, when he married my then widowed Great Grandmother who was 39, he claimed to be 34. My Grandmother, Ellen, was born in 1887, two years after Elizabeth Ann. My Grandmother joined the Salvation army in 1903, married my grandfather, Frederick John Uren, in 1912 and went to Australia in 1914. They returned to England in Dec 1919 with their two children, Clifford Simon and Eunice. Eunice died two days after their arrival in Plymouth. There seems to have been little or no contact with the Lightwood side of the family on their return. William died in January 1934, his death certificate saying he was 80, thereby confirming the age he claimed in 1881. Any scrap of help would be gratefully received!! Victoria |
