Trying to find Woodcock

Can anyone help me trace some Woodcock ancestors? My great-great grandad John Hurst was born in Melling in about 1846. He was a farmer. He and his wife Ann (b. about 1844 in Lydiate) had my great-grandad John (b. 1872), Catherine (b. 1876), Thomas (b. 1878) and Susannah Martha (b. 1880) when the 1881 census was taken. Also living with them was Catherine Woodcock (b. about 1812), who was born in Aughton, and is described on the census as mother-in-law to John Hurst and also a widow. Does anyone know which Woodcock Catherine was married to prior to 1881, or what her maiden name was? They could have been married before 1844 as far as I can tell.
