ERNEST SYDNEY PIPER dob 1881 Easington Co. Durham, married Harriet Pike Sept 1909 - on 1901 census living with his family in Dawdon, Seaham south of Sunderland. His father a Coast Guard Chief Officer. Siblings Mark, Frances, Ada, John, Caroline, Maria and Arthur. He went on to be a 'Ship's Engineer'. The couple had 3 (poss more) children, the youngest Douglas born 1920, was my husband's father. Lived West Hartlepool. Ernest was something of a rogue - reputed to have gone through his wife's inherited money - his children lost touch with him after perhaps 1940 or so but he REMARRIED a single lady with a child after Harriet's death in 1934. The lived in the northeast The child was called 'Jackie'. The lady he married was, in fact, the cousin of Ernest's daughter-in-law Edith but the two cousins were not in touch. Edith had married Ernest's son - also called Ernest Piper. Ernest Sydney thought to have had 2 more children to his second wife. Can anyone shed any light on what happened to Ernest Sydney - Did he become a 'reformed character'!? Any descendants of Ernest Sydney's siblings out there ? |
