I'm trying to find info on my Grandad Frederick William Hewitt He was to my knowledge born in London I havn't got a definate date of birth for him. This is all I know he lived with my nan can find no record of a marriage between them at 17 Abbey Lane Stratford East London they had both been married before. My nans name was May Lena or Helena Henson and then Clark my Dads name is also Frederick William and his brothers are Hebert and William. My Grandad was a bricklayer by trade and he served in the royal Engineers in the 1ww and the Boer war and was a lot older than my nan. She left the family in 1937 and my Dad and his brothers were put into a childrens home called Aldersbrooke in Wanstead. Because a can't find a marriage certificate for my grand parents, I have no way of verifying the birth certificates I have obtained are for the correct people. If anything sounds familiar to you please help, I would love to find out what happened to my nan and grandad, I never even seen a picture of them and I must find out what happened. I just need to know and to tell my children.about their great grand parents.
