Sadie Luckily Bearcroft is a very unusual name. Your father would have been from Evesham where the Bearcrofts are highly clustered (presumeably the name originated there). It is the market garden centre of England. With the limited info you have you may be best to order a copy of his Birth Certificate to get his fathers name etc. Once you have this you should be able to pick him out on the 1901 and 1881 census which are both online (1881 for free organised by the Mormons, 1901 pay per go due to our silly Government. If you also try putting Bearcroft and Evesham 1838-1940 in the free BMD serach engine, you will quickly get a list of most of the Bearcroft Births, Marriages and Deaths during this period in Evesham. Its also worth paying the £7.50 subscription to this site and emailing the Evesham bearcrofts that have registered. One of them is likely to have done the family history in some detail, and you are likely to be all realted. http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ for the free Birtsh/deaths marriages - our may get lucky and find there is a marriage to and Ada mary which will allow you to identify your grandfather. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp 1881 census http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ Wade
