My grandmother Elizabeth Jane Agnew was born 1884 at Cleator Cumberland to George Agnew and Eliza Stewart. She had two brothers and one sister Jessie. Brothers were James and George. I know that James was born September quater 1881, Elizabeth jane 1st Jan. 1884, Jessie Sept quater 1886. George 1888. Eliza Jane their mother died in 1889 aged 34years of TB (I have a death certificate) The family moved from Cleator to Distington probably to be nearer family or even into mining cottages as George Senior appears in the census as a miner. My grandmother was brought up by a grandmother after her mother died and then entered into service. She eventually married in Sunderland Co Durham. But she never said much about her family and until the census was discovered we did not know that she had any brothers and sisters. My cousin and I (her grand daughters) would love to know more about this family as we spent a lot of time with her and have gleaned little tit bits of info over the years. can anyone help Yours Beth Warren |
