I'm trying to build my family tree and have got stuck tracing my maternal grandfather's line. His names was Walter ( sometimes he used William) Francis Churchwell. We believe he was born in New Jersey USA but that his parents were killed when he was around 4/5 and he was sent to Ireland with his younger sister to be brought up. We believe he was brought up in County Clare before joining the British Army. He served in India. He married for the first time. I believe he had around 8/10 children from his first marriage. He met my grandmother ( a widow) at the end of the second world war. They lived in London where my mother was born. He died in 1973, in Lambeth London Any information would be greatly appreciated
