Trying to find Valance

I have a Harriet Valance marrying Charles Bacon at Belper, Derbyshire in 1859. Her father is listed as Richard Vickerstaff on the marriage certificate. One of the witnesses is a Susanna Valance. Both Charles and Harriet were residing in Horsley Woodhouse, Derbyshire. Harriet's mother was called Hannah and in both the 1881 and 1891 census returns she was living with Charles and Harriet and was named Hannah Vicarstaff/Vickerstaff. Unfortunately I can find no trace of Harriet's birth certificate - under either name. Incidentally when I found Harriet's daughter's birth certificate (another Harriet) Harriet (the elder) is listed as formerly Vickerstaff in this instance and not Valance. I can also find no other trace of her parents other than what is above. Richard Vickerstaff appears to have passed away by 1881 - Hannah is listed as a widow. Would like to progress this branch of the tree and have been stuck for some considerable time. Any help would be much appreciated so if you recognise these names please contact me. |
