I am trying to find any connection with my GGG Grandfather Charles Matthewman. He was born 1821/22 in Wakefield Yorkshire. And lived with his wife Caroline in the Hove & Brighton Area in Sussex. Ihave references of him being a plasterer and I think he may have spent some time at sea. I have no clues to his past at all.

I have in my tree Ellen Matthewman born at Sandal, Wakefield in 1821, married to one of my forefathers, William Beardshall at Holy Trinity Church, Wakefield in 1844. They had nine children, one of whom was christened Matthewman but he died in 1859 at 10 years of age. The name was carried on by William's brother Joe also naming one of his children Matthewman, born in 1878, but unfortunately he also died at the even younger age of 8.

I assume Ellen was Charles Mattewman's brother but unforunately I don't have more as I haven't researched her line.
