I have just received my husbands G Grandmothers birth cert back Margaret Watts 1a 308 June 1/4 St Margarets Westminster (thats what it said on ancestry) on the cert it says St John the Evangelist Westminster I can't tell if it is right or not as on her wedding cert she did not put down her fathers name I tried phoning GRO but there was a 50 minute wait just wanted to know if there where any other Margaret Watts in that 1/4 if they had sent wrong one Thanks Jeanette

Have looked on 1837online for June qtr. 1861, and there is only one Margaret Watts registered. Kath. x

I think I know what is going on. Westminister is the District. St John is the Parish. The district Westminster is an alternative name for Westminster St Margaret.

Tracy's right. The district is Westminster St. Margaret. St. John will be the parish. I'd say you have got the right certificate. Kath. x

She may have been under-age, or she may not have wanted them to know she was married, or she may have dis-owned them, or any other number of reasons
