I have just received my husbands G Grandmothers birth cert back Margaret Watts 1a 308 June 1/4 St Margarets Westminster (thats what it said on ancestry) on the cert it says St John the Evangelist Westminster I can't tell if it is right or not as on her wedding cert she did not put down her fathers name I tried phoning GRO but there was a 50 minute wait just wanted to know if there where any other Margaret Watts in that 1/4 if they had sent wrong one Thanks Jeanette |

Have looked on 1837online for June qtr. 1861, and there is only one Margaret Watts registered. Kath. x |

I think I know what is going on. Westminister is the District. St John is the Parish. The district Westminster is an alternative name for Westminster St Margaret. |

Tracy's right. The district is Westminster St. Margaret. St. John will be the parish. I'd say you have got the right certificate. Kath. x |

She may have been under-age, or she may not have wanted them to know she was married, or she may have dis-owned them, or any other number of reasons |
