Many thanks hon I think the other Maria was dead before the 1871 as well and she's possibly one that missed the GRO indexes. Either that or I just missed her when I checked, will have to have another look sometime. Lou |

Thanks anyway Linda Can't understand why they had to pick wives with the same name? Was there a shortage of women back then??? Lou |

Been looking for Maria in 1891, but my eyes must be even worse than yours, as I can't find her either. Not of help I know, but I didn't want you to feel that we are not trying, Linda. |

I have one that’s driving me mad! I have PETER BIBB and WILLIAM BIBB both of whom married a MARIA. Maria, wife of Peter, born 1818, birthplace Bayswater. Maria, wife of William, born 1814 Marylebone. Peter and William are both dead before the 1871 census. I’ve found Maria Bibb in 1881 as a Lodger in Leyton, Essex and a death for Maria Bibb in 1895 registered West Ham, the 1881 certainly being William’s Maria and the death fits with where she was in 1881. I cannot find her in 1871 or 1891 either in London or Essex. I cannot find the other Maria in 1871 onwards but I cannot find a death for her either. She’s on the 1861 census then vanishes. Fresh eyes much appreciated! Thanks Lou |
