Hi all,looking for a Giles Lawton,22 yrs old,born Yorkshire Saddleworth.Probably working in woolen trade..I have him on 71,81,91 &01..Kind regards,Ross...On 1871 he is married,but wife is 25yo so cant see them being wed in 1861..Ross. |

HI Ross Which area of Saddleworth? Saddleworth consist of 7 villages and various small hamlets So an idea as to which part would be helpful Look at Lancashire BMD there is a marriage in 1865 Bren |

Hi Bren,long shot really as hes only down on other census as Sadd,Yorks....His son on 1901,has his birthplace as Denshaw...As i said Bren its a long shot,so dont be wasting too much effort on it ..That must be the right marriage Bren,thank you..As the Lawtons are only a small(but important)part of my tree,ihave little info,but i did come across a site months back that i am sure Giles was on..It was webged Lawtons Saddleworth,found it again today,but i cant access the darn thing...Regards,Ross. |

Hi Ross The only reason I asked for an area is that Lawton was a very common name in the villages Have you looked at the entry on Lancs BMD in 1865 the record is at Oldham Bren |

Hi Christina,that sounds pretty much spot on,he is down on 1871 as 32yo,and occupation WOOL SLUBBER..I will send for his marriage cert for confimation of fathers name..I dont know how you managed it Christina as i didnt have very much info,but thank you ever so much..Would it be possible to have the image when you have time??Again,many thanks Christina..Regards Ross. |
