I have received this morning the deathcert of my grans eldest brother Frederick William Bannock, who died 22 June 1945, while living in Church St. It appears from Google that there is only the one church, St Mary's. If someone either living local or someone passing by, with time to spare, could look in the church yard to see if there is a gravestone for him. Thank you for reading this,I am grateful, regards, Derek in France

Derek I've checked Familyhistoryonline for you. This appears to cover Steeple Ashton for the period in which you are interested, but no trace of William Bannock anywhere.
