Hi Ted, Online try scotlandspeople. gov. uk - they have bmd indexes and old parish records on a pay per view basis. I find this site much better than 1837online as you can search on area aswell as name and year. The only problem is records online don't go as far as 1837online as a data protection measure, you'll need to apply in writing to the local office or Scotland's gro. Don't forget to take the spaces out of the address. You might have trouble accessing it tonight as they have just released the 1871 census - I can't get on at the mo! Good Luck, Jenny |

Ted It looks as though Thomas and family went to Dundee and then came back again. Here are the family on the 1881 census, back in the Manchester area, with youngest child born there. Ellen, thanks, yea ive got that. The family have disappeared on the 1891 census, but I believe they were in LPOOL somewhere. Ive found the family on the 1901 census in LPOOL but he was dead by then. He certainly moved around a lot, born manchester 1848/49. then went off to LONDON, where he married, then went off to DUNDEE had a couple of kids, back to SALFORD, then finally to LPOOL, he was an auctioneer so maybe he went where the work was. LOVE TO KNOW WHERE HE WENT TO IN 1891. He had a daughter ELIZABETH, my wifes g/grandmother born LPOOL 1886 then a big gap to his last child DOROTHY born LPOOL 1899. a gap of 13 years. Wonder why that was? Prison maybe? ONE long mystery. TED. tHANKS FOR YOUR HELP. |
