Trying to trace my grandfathers family have a birth certificate but its an old one with no relatives put on it his name was Harvey Bowman Middleton born 14/11/1905 his fathers name was the same i know that much and his mums name was Grace Bull he was born in Colchester barracks or at least thats the story ive been told however, he was bought up in Hackney. any look up would be great if that is possible i know he is too young for the census but maybe his mum and dad are listed somewhere. Very greatful for any help Many |

If you send for a new cert, ( a FULL) one, it should give you the info you need. I had the same, short one, with nothing on it apart from my name. The FULL certs give you all the info thats available. Elaine :-) |

Hi, you should have the details of his mum and dads names and dads occupation plus their address on the certificate. If not, why dont you order it from GROonline for £7? |

1901 possible ? Frederick Middleton 34 Preston, Suffolk, England Son Hackney London Harvey Middleton 48 Mile End, London, England Head Hackney London Kleigtia Middleton 56 Preston, Suffolk, England Wife Hackney London Richard Middleton 30 Preston, Suffolk, England Son Hackney London Ellen Poole 15 Not Stated Servant Hackney London Its the only Harvey of age to be a Father, on the census. If not correct Harvey, then they COULD be relatives, so I'd hold onto the info. Do you know if Mum & Dad actually married ? Elaine :-) |

oh i thought that this birth certificate would be all that was recorded. Seems strange that these small ones were issued with such a small amount on them and its like tissue paper. Cheers |

My parents weren't married, I don't know if this is anything to go by ? .... plus, the short certs are a LOT cheaper than the full ones. Elaine :-) Maybe they weren't married in 1901 ? Could the above be Harvey Srn with his first wife ? then he married Grace ... if they married ? |

Yes you might be right about him being married twice i only know that he had my granddad and i think two more children a girl named grace as his wife was and a boy i think called tim he came out of the army and then owned a tobaccanist/ sweet shop. |

So my grandfather was born out of wedlock or so they say if he was born in 1905 and they married 1907? |

This will be why he had a short birth cert ... well it was the reason I got a short one anyway !! I'm going to see IF the wife on the census died before 1907 ! Elaine :-) Can't see her on FreeBMD. |

The death you have found Jonathon must be the same Harvey as on the census ..... so the census entry isn't the correct Harvey....so we can discount that Harvey Middleton. Elaine :-) |

Thanks i think that must be here as she was 23 in the 1901 census which means she was born about 1878 making her 13 in 1891. |
