HIi All,have just recieved a birth cert for 1849,Michael Cunnington(should be Connaughton),but the damn address is practically illegible..Ive just been going over Dukinfield in the A to Z,and the nearest i can see is Foundry Street, number 16..If someone would be so kind as to have a look on 1851 Census for that address i would be most grateful..I am hoping to find Patrick(head),Catherine(wife),Micheal(son) and maybe John(son)..Kind regards Ross. |

Hi, I've just checked 1851 Lancs, .... the only Foundry in Ashton under Lyne is a Foundry Brow, Newton Wood. Disc 25. Piece 2236. I haven't checked this as I haven't got time right now. Dukinfield is actually under DuNkinfield !! on the Area Index, Piece number 2237 .... Disc 25. If no one else has checked when I get back home later, I'll have a look. Elaine :-) |

Elaine & Julie, many thanks for your efforts..Just a quick update..I am sure that the last four letters of street name are NDRY,as for the two or three letters before that i,m not sure but its got to be either Foundry,Landry,Eandry or Sandry..grr very annoying..Thanks again everyone..Regards Ross. |

Ross I've just had a look at my old area map. Now the map is from c1865 so no guarantees that the streets on it were all there in 1851 BUT right on the Dukinfield/Stalybridge border is either VAUDRY or VAUNDRY Street, I can't quite make out the tiny writing! Possible???? Lou |
