Does anyone know the church which is in Hainford/Haynford., Norfolk. Listed on a census in 1881 as family were living in Hainford Rectory (sometimes spelt Haynford Rectory). Thank you

It's called St Swithin's, Hainford. What info are you looking for (I am not in Norfolk, but I do have Norfolk ancestry). nell

I am in Norwich. Hainford is about 3/4 miles from me, north of Norwich. What do you want to know? Alice

Hi Helen I had a break-through with my MIDDLETON ancestor's, who were born in Hingdringham. However Frank was a vicar, hence why he lived in the rectory. I have been searching for ages on the web, but only came up with mention's of the rectory and not the Church attached to it. Thank you for letting me know the name, it should be much easier to find the burials now.

Alice As you are mad Alice does that mean that you like to visit grave yards, and do a David Bellamy through the undergrowth????

Oh.... So youv'e heard of me! Actually I did once make a study of lichens growing on Norfolk graves! (honest truth). Scary stuff - got some really funny looks too! Do you need a parish look up or something. I am often in the library- they have copies of most parishes. Let me know - i'm on holiday next week alice Forgot to say, There is a man in the library (aged80plus) Who was tracing Norwich vicars. he showed me books to look up their education, how much their parish was worth etc. If I asked him he would be pleased to help I'm sure.

Hello again...only me. I have a feeling I found 'lichens' growth on my young son's knickers......cleaned his bedroom earlier...oh what joy. Could I send them to you for an analasys???? Looking for the burial and inscription of Eva Pakenham MIDDLETON , she was the vicar of Haynford rectory's wife. The church may be St Swithins, Hainford...as per first message. Eva died in the December 1/4 of 1887. she would have been 27/28 years old. I would love to know the inscription.......she was related on my Johnstone side. It is also thought that the church yard may contain other MIDDLETON'S as they seemed to rule this area. Ps The winning numbers (probably) are 8,16,12,9,32 and 43

I will look them up for you. Going to bed now. PS Not wishing to sound ungreatful, but I would rather find James Cox than win lottery at the moment. However I will do numbers! Oh and I will go to Hainford and look for grave if and take photo if I find it! Hope it's not covered in lichens! My son (who I think has grown out of the lichen infested knicker stage) used to play in a band with a load of lads from Hainford. Lovely little village. Alice
